OF TENANT/LEASEE/LANDLORD
1) CHECK
BILLS
The customer has a responsibility
to check bills for all utilities, which come to the site address. If
it has the previous occupiers names you must take action and not ignore
this correspondance, as this could be detrimental to the site and your
business. Utility companies have been known to chase outstanding debts
at a site even when previous occupiers have moved on.
2) METER
READS
As the occupier you have
a responsibility to phone/send actual readings into your utility company
once a month to keep your billing accurate as this is to your benefit.
Utility companies only have to read your meters twice yearly and will
run on estimates out with actual reads – so keep it accurate.
3) NO PAYMENTS
TAKEN
As the occupier you must
notify the utility company if no money is taken via direct debit if
one is set up, as you would certainly do this if an overpayment were
taken.
4) WRONG
NAMES ON BILL
If the bills are being received
with the incorrect name on you must also contact the utility supplier
as this can cause major debt recovery problems i.e. meters being removed
for debt which does not belong to you.
