Climate Change Levy
In April 2001, the government introduced the Climate Change Levy. Every commercial user is subject to the CCL. It is meant to encourage commercial businesses to cut down on their usage and reduce the green house emissions polluting the atmosphere. Many businesses may be exempt from this ­ are you? This government stealth tax will increase energy bills by approximately 10% per annum.

The government through the carbon trust is financing interest free loans for companies who fall into the criteria of replacing inefficient equipment with more environmentally friendly equipment, therefore reissuing the moneys collected through the climate change levy back into business.
